Abstract:
Today, the Western blot continues to be a popular assay for analyzing protein expression. Many technological advances have increased the power of the approach, including the development of quantitative assays, ability to detect multiple proteins simultaneously, and the use of sophisticated digital capture systems for easier detection and analysis. Like most useful methodologies, Western blotting technology continues to evolve. To help scientists new to Western Blotting understand the fundamentals of the technique, and to provide those already familiar with Western Blotting with an overview of the current state-of-the-art, this workshop provides an excellent starting point and resource for researchers interested in Western blotting.

Abstract:
Western blot (WB) plays an essential role in biomedical dan clinical research. It is used to identify specific proteins both by size and by antibody binding. The procedure of WB consists of three key elements: (1) separation of protein by size, (2) transfer to a solid support and, (3) identification of the protein via conjugation with specific primary and secondary antibodies to visualize. Data produced from WB is typically considered to be semi-quantitative. Application of WB, including identification and quantification of the protein. In the biomedical field, WB could help confirm the yield of protein expression and purification and the reactivity against various human plasma. Moreover, WB can compare the protein expression in various organs, including brain, heart, and muscle. Lastly, WB also provides important data from isolation dan purification of a specific protein. In conclusion, WB provides valuable and robust data for further analysis and application of biomedical research.
