HPE™ BlueHorizon™ System
The HPE™ BlueHorizon™ is a flatbed system for horizontal electrophoresis using precast gels, self-cast gels and gel strips. Main applications are isoelectric focusing (IEF - like CSF, seed and food analysis, EPO, separation of antibodies and other recombinant proteins), SDS and native PAGE, 2D electrophoresis as well as separation of nucleic acids. The HPE™ BlueHorizon™ flatbed electrophoresis system provides unmatched resolution, reproducibility and sensitivity – the first true "High Performance Electrophoresis (HPE)“ system.

The HPE™ BlueHorizon™ system includes :

- HPE™ Cooling Unit (Cat. No. HPE-CU1)
The HPE™ BlueHorizon™ consists of a sturdy metal housing and an integrated drawer for horizontal electrophoresis.The BluePower 3000 HPE™ power supply can be placed on the sturdy metal housing to save space. It supplies the HPE™ BlueHorizon™ with up to 3000 volts. This is sufficient voltage for isoelectric focusing (IEF), 2D- and SDS-PAGE.
A ceramic cooling plate is built into the drawer of the HPE™ BlueHorizon™ that is connected to the HPE™ cooling unit. Film-supported gels of up to 260 x 205 mm are stably cooled appropriate for each application. This is particularly important using IEF gels. Additionally, when performing 2D or SDS-PAGE, the cooling results in sharp bands and spots.
The electrode lid of the HPE™ BlueHorizon™ has three electrode positions (270 mm fixed, 195 mm fixed, 115 mm variable). The electrodes are fitted with unbreakable platinum rods. This makes it possible for the operator to move and clean the electrodes himself. The positions fit all types of film-supported gels.
For 2D electrophoresis, we also offer an optional special lid with tray (Cat. No. HPE-ELIPG) to focus IPG strips of the first dimension on the HPE™ BlueHorizon™ system as well. Depending on the strip length, however, the BluePower 6000 IPG high-voltage power supply is required.
